So I have the following installation on two separate systems, identical in many respects:
Processor: Core i5
RAM: 12 Gb & 16 Gb respectively
Host OS: Windows 10
VMWare Workstation Pro 16.1.2 build-17966106
I have Catalina set installed on both with identical specs for the VM, so to speak.
Now, on the one system, the laptop, the VM works just fine, and is responsive to mouse movement. It loads apps reasonably quickly (but you'd never mistake it for an M1!), with little hesitation. In short, quite usable, all round.
However on my desktop system, which has 16 Gb I'm experiencing much worse performance. Halting mouse movement, excruciating delays in opening apps and other annoying behaviours abound.
Now, the only thing which I can fathom to be the culprit is that the VMWare tools are somehow not playing well with the host hardware.
Has anyone else encountered issues with performance similar to this?
Many thanks in advance!
