I initiated the upgrade through "About this Mac - Software update.

8.09 GB of 8.09 GB was downloaded and now nothing happens? The blue progress bar still has a little bit left but for the last hour nothing happens?

Any ideas how to move on?

If you can cancel, try it via the appstore. Worked for me. Via Preferences, after 8 GB of the 8.15 GB it complained that the download was no longer available and it stopped.

I have it up and running. Not sure what to make of this Relocated Items folder (link) which popped up after finishing the upgrade. Had to with the revised security or whatever.

Sat on a blank screen for way too long. Thought it died. Hit power button. Eventually got a restart now screen. So something happened after the download.
Also download was very fast for first 6GB but then went much slower as well.

Taking a long time to install. The number of minutes remaining is way off.

before I gave a go ahead to start the install I copied the file to SD card for safe keeping.

Not sure if anyone else’s is like this? Catalina downloaded, was merrily installing until I eventually got a black screen with spinning wheel in the middle. It’s been like this for about 30 mins and I get the feelings something gone wrong. Help!

Mine was like that for 5 minutes until it eventually rebooted and the update went fine. Something might have gone if you are still there for 30 minutes...

Took a long, long time for me to get through the update and then hung on updating my settings so I powered off and back on and it seems fine.

I too powered off and back on in the end. Ran though a few progress bars after than and eventually it was done. Scary.

Finally got somewhere. I skipped the Screen time (?) stuff setup and it pinwheeled at that point forever. Now it keeps wanting me to sign into iCloud to update settings.

Seems worse experience with any system. Ever. Rough around edges. POS if there ever was.

Anyone else get stuck in “less than a minute remaining”. It’s been there for almost 2 hours. My patience is dwindling. Any recs??

Dude, were you in my house? I have the same lamp!

I had the problem where it kept downloading updates. Never realized the install app was already on my system.

Downloaded Catalina on a brand new MacBook Pro last night with 150GB free storage space. Got completely stuck with message « cannot install, not enough space on MacOS HD ». I restarted, rebooted, pressed Option/Command/R to get into recovery mode following the instructions via Apple chat for a good hour. Nothing worked. In the end I recovered my Mac from a time machine backup thankfully done just before ( Seagate 1TB good and cheaper than most). Just downloaded Catalina on another Mac. Took 2 full hours with many black screens, Apple coming and disappearing, and indeed remaining time way off. Also had to power off during « settings » taking too long. Just launched Catalina upgrade on the Mac that got completely stuck and recovered.....don’t want to recover it again! Takes 6h via Time machine from the Seagate backup. Don’t know yet if Catalina is worth the annoyance. With this upgrade an iphone now has to be backed up from the finder not from iTunes by the way.

I went to bed leaving that MacBook on, next morning it had the welcome to OS Catalina start screen and everything works fine.

I have a late 2012 Mac mini, took a few mins to download the 8gb file. From there it took almost 10 hours (overnight) of black screens and estimated time remaining. Finally in the morning I got to a log in screen with Catalina in the background, typed my password in and its been on a spinning wheel for about 30 minutes so far. Definitely the longest update I’ve seen on a Mac.

Were you able to fix this? Did you simply wait or did you hard reset? My 10.15.1 install has been stuck at this point for over 24 hours...
