After I installed Catalina on my iMac I noticed that all my MS Office for MAC iCons on my doc had circles with a line through them. If you attempt to use one you will be launched to the App store where you can purchase the MS 360 subscription service. That's total BS. I paid a lot of money for my Office for Mac package which works perfectly well. So, M$ (and or Apple) wants to force Mac owners to belly up for the subscription service, or not upgrade to Catalina. I immediately logged into my 13" Retina laptop and turned off auto updates. As I launched each office package I was asked if I wanted to go to the App store. Yeah right, I responded cancel. After I repeated the action for each Office package I was not prompted again. And, I even had office updates ready to install from MS. I don't know when, if ever that I will upgrade to Catalina on my laptop. I rarely use the MS software, but it's there if I need it. Beware!

Probably 32-bit (or has 32-bit dependencies). Did you look to see if you had 32-bit software before installing Catalina?

Why in the world did you install Catalina without first checking to see if all your apps are compatible? Office 2016 and Office 2019 non subscription versions can be purchased on line. Both are 64 bit and will work with Catalina. Office 2011 which might be the version you have is 32 bit and will not work with Catalina.

I really didn't think about it, my bad. I don't pay twice for essentially the same software improved. The Apple suite is pretty much all I've used for years.

boohoo. progress isn't for everyone, and change is scary...
Progress used to be my middle name. I'ver got high tech stuff everywhere. My wife, low to no tech, hates it. She said if I precede her in death she will destroy all computers, iPads, iPods, Apple watch, Garmin's, etc. etc. etc.?
