Hi, Folks,

I've now tried three times, on two different 2.1 iPhones, to use Categories to help organize my home screens. What's interesting is that I have all nine pages of apps nearly full, plus I've also downloaded BossPrefs, Cycorder, iPhoneModem, OpenSSH, and Winterboard.

Every time I try to set things up, by the time I've added the second or third folder name, things start crashing. Twice, the process of simply selecting an icon for the third folder name has Categories grinding to a halt; scrolling through the icons starts taking ~5 seconds/page, nearing 20 seconds per page towards the end, and then an immediate crash/respring before I can even get to the icon I'm looking for.

I also see crashes while trying to add apps to folders. I know that it apparently works well for most of you, but it sure isn't working here. Is it possible that I'm running into a buffer overrun due to the very large number of apps that I'm starting with? Is the secret to create the folders first, and to move apps into them before the list gets too long? Some other trick? I'd very much appreciate your advice!

Thanks!
Mark

Hi, Gang!

I'll add a few tidbits of additional information. Both phones were DFU-restored to move to 2.1, and I used no pre-2.1 backups. Instead, all information was synced or reentered after each phone was cleanly on 2.1.

In addition, when I mentioned the slow scrolling during the process of selecting an icon for a folder, the scrolling itself wasn't slow. Instead, after scrolling each page of icons, the iPhone would accept no user input for from 5-20 seconds after a previous scroll (increasing after each scroll request), as though it was locked up. I never did make it all the way through the list of icons by the time I'd added a third folder, since Categories would crash before reaching the end. Bizarre!

FYI!

Howdy!

Never mind - it isn't just me. I checked at BigBoss's (the developer's) site, and others with lots of apps are also running into this problem. I'll follow up there.

Cheers!
