Just saw that Category is out.. you can sort your apps into folders.. no more 5 or 6 pages of apps !!:D

is there a way for us to customize the folder icons?
If you mean with any icon, ie ones not included with the app, then yes. You can replace the icon for any of your folders. Your "folders" are in the /Applications folder with their name.app. ie: Games.app. Replace the icon.png with whatever icon you want. If you just want to change your icon to another one that you saw included with Categories, you can do that too, just find the icon in /Applications/Categories.app/icons/ and copy it into the folder app you want.

Installed this morning and sorted almost everything into 3 folders down from 6 pages. Seems really slow though to open each folder though, so might go back to 6 pages.

I've installed this last night and it works like a dream. Can't wait to make it a little more appealing with my own icons.

Question: Has anyone tried to sync with iTunes after putting everything in to folders? Do the apps make their way back to the springboard homescreen or are they kept in the folder? *not new apps, but the ones you have already on the iPhone*

just synced mine to see what happened and everything stayed the same afterwards.

Also, I've gone for 3 pages a 2 folders for apps and games I use less often.

This also speeds your phone up incredibly. Doesnt have to draw all of the app icons anymore :D

Rats! This must be US only, I can't find it in the UK App Store.

Edit: Just realised this is the iPhone Hacks forum, doh! :p

Wow, I've been waiting for an app like this Good job!

One little thing, one of my folders wasn't showing up - I think it's because I named it "Music & Video". That may have had something to do with it. I couldn't rename it, had to start from scratch.

2.03b is out and seems to work well (for me at least).

From the man himself:
This addresses most the bugs reported and I have done my best to deal with speed issues on loading.

* Changed background loading from a “fake” set of icons to a folder provided by Allen over at planet-iphones.com. The other method, while cool, was causing issuus because the app looked loaded but it was not. This made it appear that the buttons needed to be pressed many times before they worked.
* Removed the “save screen” option. This is related to the change above. This also speeds up the launching app process.
* Added a caching system to help cut down folder load times when nothing has changed in folders. The first time a chance occurs, the cache is updated but subsequent loads should be faster. Load times seem to be reduced by about 33% due to it. The more icons in the folder, the longer it takes to load.
* Added many icons provided by Ranova and Scott Weichert.
* Fixed bug with funky navigation bar buttons in the main configuration app.

Much snappier now i updated

great app, definitely the most useful one for clearing the icons mess
just a few suggestions ( in case the developer reads this) :-

- allow custom icons for folders, the supplied icons are pretty ugly
- how come some App icons don't show as rounded corners inside ?
- allow web bookmarks to be added as well, that'll be awesome

great effort though, highly appreciated !

This is very cool.

I noticed that it doesn't work for websites though.

I sent a request for that capability to the developer. :)

Oh yea...that's a video wallpaper btw...looks damn sexy :D

Watch it in action : http://www.thememyphone.com/displayimage-155-8.html
All of the video wallpapers ran pretty choppy when I tried them. Seemingly the framerate would go up and down so it would play slow sometimes and fast others, and it never had a seamless transition on the loop - it would freeze for a couple seconds. It really took away from the video wallpaper IMO. Do you have this problem too?

i tried it but i hated it, the icons were all ugly without curves so i went back to 6 pages
My friend doesn't like it for the same reason. I don't get it though. The only time I'm ever in the "folder" is to launch an app. I'm never in there just messing around, so I don't care how it looks. It could be a list for all I care. The billion times better looking and functioning actual homepage is worth it to me.

To each their own I suppose.

If you set it to black background they look better.

No. It runs very smooth here, but one problem is that I lose wallpaper after an alarm, or listening to ipod or anything with sound. I have to re-spring to get it back...

Has anyone found a way to change a folder icon after you've already created the folder??

I can't seem to do it.
