being an idiot, I put boss prefs, cydia, installer, etc, all into one category named 'jailbreak' even after hearing the horror stories about lost applications after a restore. After messing up an SSH attempt, the phone was bricked and I had to restore. Well now I've jailbroken it again, and there are no cydia or installer icons.
How do I fix this? Your help is greatly appreciated!!

You need to restore it and set it up as a new phone. Because with all of your other backups the icon locations are in the categories folder that doesn't exist anymore. So if you set it up as a new phone then the icons will be in a default position and you should be able to see them again. :D

First, you didn't brick it as it seems you were able to load firmware on it again. :) Secondly, are you sure you used a custom firmware and didn't restore to a stock one? Since you did have these apps previously in a folder however, this may be why you can't see them as jmann suggested.
