I've never seen a developer preview with so many problems. On the fifth developer preview you would expect some degree of stability and firefox won't run.

It's ugly.
Just venting frustration.
Gack.

whatever you're experiencing, it's not universal; not everyone is having the same experiences. and firefox is that developers responsibility. plus it's a beta...

fwiw, breathing is better than ranting.

And you also wonder how many of the problems aren't Apple but developers that need to fix their products - that was what Beta's are really for.

Actually you're incorrect. The firefox issue is due to a video bug on apple's end. Which would make it universal. Also I'm talking about the developer preview and not the public beta which have two entirely different purposes. Clearly you are not a developer.

and clearly you expect any sort-of beta to work as if it were a final release (which, sigh, will have it's own issues); and so on & so on...

Developer preview chief. Have a great week...

yes, that's exactly correct; and if the firefox issue needs a solution from apple... that's what it needs. simple. but expecting miracles from any beta is a lost cause, and ranting about it accomplishes nothing. have a great week...

Absolutely not. It boils to down to Macs that are barely used for anything.

and you're basing your statement on... what? a poll you took?

we all use our macs for... whatever we need to, or want to use them for. one person's using final cut, another mostly surfs the web. and it's all fine.

if you're making a statement, back it up with some facts. otherwise, it's just your opinion, and you should own it.

Since when do Apple's final releases of macOS not have problems?

Some of you are WAY too hung up on the word "beta". Beta is not an all-encompassing excuse.

All this nothing more than a BUILD. A build that is seeded to developers and the public alike. A build that is presumably 6 weeks away from wider release.

And it is not a good one.

Basing on what I know. People who dick around on their Macs running a few stock apps in very stock ways with very light load are not useful for providing feedback. Your attempts at diminishing reality are uninteresting.

no, am suggesting actual reality. based on 'what you know'? how many people does that cover? 5? 500,000?

an opinion is an opinion, no matter how you state it. and opinions are not, in the real world, not the same as facts.

as we get close to product release reality will fade.

Just saying hold off wait some before downloading or buying anything just off the boat.

Glad I'm not the only one, who feels that way. For me the problems actually increased with each new preview, the fourth public beta being the worst version so far. Cannot recall a beta being that unstable in recent years. What surprises me most is that Mojave came with a lot of under-the-hood changes and it basically ran smoothly from beta 1. I really hope Apple is working on builds that are more advanced as of now and that the next betas will see huge improvements.

The problem is that Mojave is still that crap from the betas even after a lot of updates... I'm seriously worried.

none of that makes sense. lots of ppl are running mojave and are perfectly fine (including the lunatics I MEAN pros who live on these forums). :D

mojave, imho, is apple's best OS yet (finally surpassing 10.6.8). catalina is, of course, an OS still in development...

I uninstalled Mojave from every Mac I have (and I have quite a few of them). Font rendering on non-retina screens is awful (as is in Catalina), performance (both graphical and general OS responsiveness) is terrible compared to High Sierra and temperatures are sky high.
Comparing Mojave with Snow Leopard, and even asserting that it's better than 10.6.8, is an absolute blasphemy.

blasphemy... for you. what about all the macusers who are having a good experience on mojave? you've obviously had issues with mojave... but i never understand why people think they speak for everyone...

Because EVERYONE I know has problems with Mojave.
There'll probably never be another version of macOS as stable as 10.6.8 was
