OOooooo, like the look of that. Even though the video will be made to show off the functionality in the best possible way, I still can't even begin to understand how they make it work. Is it magic?

Wow. Pretty slick. I do outdoors shots like that a lot, and I imagine the sky, grass, etc is an easier fix. I'm assuming it would work with panoramas too, which could be quite helpful.

It's just making the existing functionality easier and faster to use. Previously you had to select the white / transparent areas left from cropping with e.g. the magic wand and hit content aware fill. Now you don't have to do that extra step anymore.
