Hi guys,

My wife's purse got stolen today shopping so I have had to cancel our credit cards. I have a iPad 3g pre-ordered (before the cut-off - April 15th ordered) and it says prepared for shipment. My credit card hasn't been charged yet.

I tried phoning apple but no luck as they are closed right now.

What will happen to my order? Will Apple cancel it or will they ask me for alternate payment methods?

Surely they have something in place for circumstances where cards are charged many weeks after the initial order?

I wont get new cards until early next week :(

Thanks..

You have the right idea -you need to phone Apple and let them know what happened, as well as provide them with an alternative CC number. I guess you might not have a new or alternative CC until next week, which could cause delay.

I'm sorry to hear about the theft, I hope it gets fixed for you & your wife asap. :(

I would image they would attempt to call you (they usually do if there is a credit limit issue, daily withdraw issue or something similar), sounds like if you can't come up with another form of payment, then you might have to forfeit your place in line...

...and if you don't have a new CC number then call your bank/card company and ask for a temporary one while you wait on your new cards.

You should have waited until your iPad was charged before you reported it.
;)

seriously though, just call them with new CC info.

How lame of an idea is that? You seriously think delaying the shipment of your iPad is worse than what can happen when someone gets their hands on your card? I'd take no iPad over what can happen when my card is stolen.

Call them and if you have another CC use that in your pre-order without having them hold back your iPad 3G until May 7.

Just give them a call once available and see what can be resolved.

Lighten up Jessica he was joking:cool:

I had this happen on my first round 3G pre-order. You'll get an order problem warning message from Apple because the card was declined. All you have to do is log into your Apple store account and go to the order status. Your status will have a red bar across the top and it will say there's an order problem. It will have a link to click to correct the card information.

I had called the Apple customer service number when I discovered my card issue and they told me to wait for what I have listed above and to correct it when the charge failed.

Sorry to hear about the theft ... call your credit card company they'll give you instructions/temp card # so you can call Apple and explain what happened, give them the new # and you should be all set!

Check with your CC company if the transaction has already been authorised or 'pre-agreed' with them (it should have been when you initially pre-ordered - why else would they hold/ agree to send one for you?)

If the purchase has been pre authorised you are fine.

If the card details were taken, held, and subsequently only now used for authorisation/ debit purposes - you're out of luck - see above posts.

I had the same issue as the original poster. I ordered my 3G on the first day of sale. Authorization was applied to my CC. I had since lost my CC and reported it to the CC company. I called Apple and they would not change the CC for the order. Two days later Apple sent me an automatic order cancellation notice and I thought I was screwed.

I re-ordered on April 1st, and just got my overnight shipping notice this morning so all is good!

I think they were just kidding . . . . notice the ;) after the comment.
Then they went on to say "seriously . . . ."

The thief will be getting a new iPad on the 30th. ;) (emoji provided for the humorless).

1) Immediately cancelling card was correct thing to do
2) Call Apple with alternative CC, but don't be surprised if this delays your order (you've waited a month, so what's a few more days)

That would be Jessica. Seriously, I have yet to see a post from you Jessica, which is even remotely positive. Your're a forum mod so lighten up and be a role model damn it. Oh, and stop blaming periods

Thanks guys. Well I received my shipment notification and tracking number from apple! awesome!

Wierd thing is that the bank said no authorisations or charges from Apple?

Lets see what happens...
:D
