iPod CD Burn Speed?

I've heard that when it comes to burn speed, slower is better. I always burn at 1x speed just to be careful, but I know it is not necessary and I am just being overly-cautious. What do you suggest is a good burn speed that will not produce errors on an audio CD?

More important is buying good quality CDRs.
