On my macbooks CD drive, It sounds like it is running a chainsaw when I put a disk in sometimes... Do you have any ideas??? I zapped the PRAM and it was fixed... But do you know what was happening to my drive????

thanks

Pram fixed it? that's weird. are you sure it's not just the cd that was unbalanced?

Yeah, I don't actually think it was the pram. It was probably a lose cd decal or something because something did fall out of my drive a while a go... It was like a peice of plastic, but ever since it fell out my drive has not had any problems... Do you think that it could have been like wedged in there or something???

This is a bit confusing.

It's fine now and that's because something fell back out of the drive, right? So there's no problem? I don't know how you'd check for a loose decal in the drive other than maybe actually using the drive to hopefully dislodge it, but it sounds like it's all good now anyway.

Yeah, I don't really know what happened, but it works now so that's all that matters! :)

Some CD's I pop in like the OS X installation CD's that came with my laptop generates loud jittery noises and a lot of vibration. Like if a pager went off in my hand. Other CD's like cd-rw's, dvd-r's, cd-r's I've put in it are rather silent with no vibes and that's whether reading or burning the disc. It's the strangest thing, but I've come to accept this as normal. I will say that the Apple CD's feel thicker than my other cds.
