My Mac MIni tries to read a music CD 7 or 8 times (I can hear it making a "scanning" noise) and then ejects it. I've tried with numerous store bought CD's that used to play fine.

It will play a DVD and even open a photo CD-RW or a document CD-RW. It was working perfectly up until now.

Any ideas about what went wrong? Thank you of course.

How old is the Mac Mini, What year is it? I hope it isn't a 2006 or 2007 Mac Mini that is personal way too old

Purchased Dec. 2007

The CD player is seldom used. I have CD's and download them. Only recently have I been using the player to look at old files on a CD-RW or to play DVD's. I can't believe such minor usage could have "worn out" the drive.

Never heard of the Brand maybe that's why

Problem solved

I timorously tried spraying some canned compressed air into the slot and it worked! Whew!

Apparently, the CD's may have had fine dust particles on them despite being stored in a plastic crystal case.
