CD Ripping in Mac OS X

What do you use for CD Ripping on Mac OS X?

Since I switched I have been using iTunes but I don't like the quality of the rips.

Back in my Windoze days I used to use an app called EAC which was juts amazing!

Is there an equivalent on Mac OS X?
 
If you don't like the quality of iTunes' rips then just set the importer to a higher bitrate in the preferences.
Or if you don't care about disk space just drag the .aiff files from the CD to wherever you want.

Since iTunes has many encoding options, there's really no reason not to use it.
 
In short: No

You might be able to compile paranoia (used in CDex) in OS X, but that ripper isn't any better than the one in iTunes.


As for why someone might want to use another ripper:

This has nothing do do with AAC or MP3 or whatever encoder. This has do do with the ripping of the CD itself (ie. extracing the audio data), and some apps are just better than others when it comes to this, at least if the CD is scratched or damaged in any way.

But, generally, as long as the CD isn't full of scratches, most rippers will do a fine enough job.
