I bought an iMac last year, as soon as the new design came out, pre-Leopard. Honestly, I didn't even try to insert a CD/DVD for a while. Now I'm noticing that they don't appear to be read. I've tried with music, pictures and instructional DVDs. I've tried to insert the install discs, to no avail. Before, this was but a minor nuisance, but I finally bought an iPod today, and would really like to load it up with music from my giant library of cds, rather than buying it all. TIA!
Edit: I'm sorry, I meant to add more detail than this, but I'm a bit frazzled right now. Anyway, I insert the CD or DVD and it makes a noise as though it's reading, does this for a minute or so and then just ejects the media. I did do a cursory search on here, but didn't find much to help me. Sorry if I missed something obvious!

If it spits out every disc you insert, there could be an issue with the optical drive hardware. Bring it into an Apple retailer or service location and let them take a look at it.

Thanks, I found a place nearby and am going to drop it off tomorrow. I'm glad I got the extended warranty.
