I am looking for a new cell phone, but im not exactly thrilled with what I have found Cingular to be offering atm. I would like to stick with Cingular, but was wondering if someone could recommend a GSM that they have had a good experience with, and why you liked it.

I know there are a lot of phones out there in Europe and Asia that trump whats available here in the us, so I thought this would be a good place for input.

I've usually been a motorola guy, star-tac, V8162, V60, V600, Razr V3, but nothing from them really appeals to me right now. Style is important, as in the smaller the better, I would prefer it to be a flip phone.

PDA / phone hybrids recommendations are welcome as well. Thanks in advance.

I like sprint/nextel...one thing they do is DEAL...I had sprint then nextel then sprint....I have never had to pay for a phone after my first one and I have got good phones...right now I have the Samsung A900 for FREE!!!! I also get 15% off because my mother works for the state....ISo ya cant beat that....and on top of it all there service areas are pretty much alla round..I am very rarely stuck with out any service

Ummm if he said he wanted to stick with Cingular then my guess is Sprint isn't his cup of tea.

I like the Sony Ericsson W710i & the Z525a a lot. It's not all that large as SE is known for smaller phones. I love my T616, it's seriously no match for many phones out there. Problem is, the screen isn't great in the sun, the camera sucks, but the size and "smart" phone features are great.

You might check the phones at YesAsia.com as they have a lot of unlocked phones that you would normally see in Asia. They're all GSM phones but of course, make sure the specifications match Cingular.

I've got my eye on the "heir" to the RAZR, the "Canary"...I also like this phone (which btw, I believe someone is selling in the Marketplace). The third phone that interests me is the SE w810i

My contract w/ Cingular ends in February and by that time I'm hoping information on the rumored "iPhone" will be released. If the iPhone turns out to not be what I expected then I will probably go with an MP3 phone of some type

Good luck hunting!

Two new phones are coming out real soon, Motorola RAZR V3i (similar to V3 but with iTunes, 1.3 MP camera, MiniSD expansion) and Nokia 6126. If you like flip phones, I think 6126 is a real killer -- with amazing high resolution LCD (240x320 with 16 million colors), stereo Bluetooth, top-notch quad-band RF reception, and for once, both the UI and physical design look pretty good.

V3i is supposedly due late June (supposedly $300!!! with 2-year contract) and 6126 is due July 5th ($150 with 2-year contract) at Cingular store.
