iPhone Cellular Call Interrupted by WhatsApp - Call Waiting is Turned Off

When I'm on a voice call via cellular network, WhatsApp keeps interrupting via pseudo-call waiting whenever someone calls via the app. Is there any way to turn this off? I thought of notifications, but I would still like that to be on.

Is this a recent issue (or what they would call an "enhancement")?
