So my phone has been running smoothly the last few days. I wake up this morning expecting a slew of emails like I usually see every morning, and there are none.

Basically my phone will not show an LTE connection in the status bar. It says I am connected to 3G in the status bar but I am not able to open any web pages or download any emails, nothing. Im basically not connected to the internet. Im really not sure how this just all of a sudden happened. The only tweak I have installed in the last few days is Call Bar and Activator to use with Call Bar.

I even rebooted into safe mode (holding volume up) and I am still not able to get an LTE connection or open any web pages or anything.

Hopefully someone here can provide some assistance. Im at a loss but don't really wanna do a restore. Thanks

BTW....iPhone 5 on 6.1 on Verizon

Now that Im sitting here looking at my phone which says it's connected to 3G I get an email notification. I try to load the email and it takes nearly 5 minutes and it loads like half of the page. So I guess Im connected but the connection is SUPER slow?

One other thing I noticed last night. When I set an alarm, I chose a new song to play from my ipod as the alarm. When I clicked to save the alarm I got a pop up notification saying something about incurring extra charges when downloading a song over cellular data. I'm thinking "what the heck, I own the song, why would it have to download it to use as an alarm?" I just hit the download tab to see what it would do and it just disappeared, nothing happened. Really weird and Im guessing might be tied to this somehow?

Edit: Now all of a sudden after using my phone for like 45 min, my LTE magically pops back up and I have internet again. Too weird. Maybe Verizon was just having a problem with the network, temporarily? Anybody experienced anything like this?

Edit #2: And now Im back on 3G only but this time I am able to pull up web pages with 3G but somewhat slow. Something is jacked up here.

It sounds like you have a Verizon LTE issue in your area. Probably one of their towers. Calling them and asking about it might relieve your anxiety.

The fact that you are getting something even on 3G means that your still connected. But since LTE is down your phone drops down to 3G. Since this is probably a problem in your area, everyone else has then also dropped to 3G which means the connection is congested and everything slows down.

I know the feeling. I'm on Sprint and I have yet to ever see an LTE signal.

Im not sure I could ever go back to just 3G after having LTE. I ave probably 15mbps down speeds which I hear is actually slow for LTE. I only have like 10mbps down on my house DSL. Hopefully you get Sprint LET soon.

Im guessing it was just a network issue cause my LTE seems to be back up and staying up.

Thanks

Yeah, sounds like a network issue. Glad it's back up.

I'm waiting for NV (Network Vision), Sprint's LTE follout. I'm in Phoenix, which according to their stats is a third round market. The first round market is already delayed by six months and everyone is saying the beginning of 2014 for the finishing of this thing. Dan Hesse keeps saying the end of 2013 though, but I don't believe him. Supposedly permits were pulled for the towers in PHX in October of last year, but it's been 6 months now since I got my i5 and I haven't seen a damn thing.

I will say this though. They might be working. I did a speed test last night and I actually got over 1MB download speed on 3G. That's pretty good for Sprint 3G when it's been hovering around the 0.1mb range with a 450ms ping. So something may be going on.

I would not be complaining at all because I bought my iPhone 5 on Sprint (waited for 4 years for Sprint to get the iPhone and another year to get the one I wanted) fully aware that they had no LTE in my area. Sprint has always been excellent with voice and so I wanted to stay with them. Unlimited Data helps, although right now it's all you can get through a straw.

My problem came in when my i5 performed WORSE on 3G than my old WinMo phone! I demanded and got a free Airave (femtocell) with free activation and no monthly fees over this. And it irks me that Sprint knows this is an issue with the i5 but is expecting LTE to simply negate the problem (because we won't be on 3G anymore) instead of fixing the 3G problem.

We'll see what happens.

Im in Houston and I originally started out with Sprint a few years ago and then switched to Verizon when I got my iPhone 5. Im surprised your speeds are so poor on 3G with Sprint. When I was in the city here in Houston I would get 1-2mbps down on Sprint. The problem was that I travel a lot and whenever I would leave the city, I would get absolutely no coverage, voice or data. Verizon is good but it's BS how they limit our data usage to 2GB per month. I would give anything to have unlimited data on Verizon with LTE. I would cancel my home internet and just get a mifi. LTE is amazing.

I've been with Sprint since 1999. The coverage and clarity has always been excellent. Perhaps that's because we've always lived in or near major cities.

LTE will be great when I can get it. Sprint's 3G problem is an issue with how the iPhone 5 downshifts to 3G. Couple that with Sprint (like AT&T in 2007) being completely unprepared for the influx of iPhone users on a network they haven't paid any attention to for the last several years and you have almost instant data gridlock.

Sprint claims that NV is replacing towers, not just updating old equipment. They like to claim that that's what Verizon is doing. Just tacking LTE on to their existing 3G towers. It's a good talking point until you discover that that is because Verizon upgraded the 3G on those towers it's tacking LTE on to a long time ago. Sprint is just NOW getting around to what Verizon did years ago (upgrading existing 3G while adding LTE). Some Sprint towers have equipment on them dating back to 1998.

I'm just waiting for this whole dang thing to finally get in to gear. I only deal with Sprint when I have to (I avoid online) and now with my iPhone I don't really have to see them anymore either. Once the work is completed the only time I have to deal with them is when I pay my bill. It works better that way. Up to this point I haven't had to deal with their BS because this hasn't been a problem. So, the sooner they can get this going in my area the sooner Sprint and I can go back to the way it was.

By chance do you have battery doctor pro installed?

Ya a lot of people are having network issues and more times than not they took the poison apple also known as battery doctor pro
That's actually a decent app tweak and it's been updated with a 4G toggle now. That was the problem. Toggling the LTE button off and back on again turns 3G back on.

I uninstalled it simply because I didn't want to deal with modes anymore. I wasn't having any other issues with it othern than what I just mentioned.

Every person I have seen was a iPhone 4 or 4s when you would toggle inside/outside it messes something up and you get no network after that. With that said I loved everything about the app the background killer and it replaced ncsetting. It was fantastic till it lets the gremlins in your phone#
