So per the article, Apple is deleting emails containing certain phrases. Is this censorship or simply overzealous spam filtering?

I verified the test with a friend (both of us have .mac emails) and it works as described. There is no notice that your email failed. There is no notice that you sent or were sent objectionable content.

Now I would submit to you that this is unadulterated censorship. Why?

1. I get plenty of spam at my .mac account and it is labeled as such. This means Apple clearly identified it as spam and took no other action than to mark it so.

2. An individual email between two .mac accounts clearly is not spam and Apple filters should be able to tell that it is not spam.

I come to the conclusion that this is censoring in its worst form...it leaves no trail and there is no notice of action taken.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are there is a locked thread started by a former admin that links the article you did along with a counterpoint..

There is likely a reason it was locked

More censorship. Though there are jailbreaking threads here and Apple censors those as well.

This isn't Apple's site censor..

It was likely locked because it's not in PRSI and there is little chance of this thread staying non political and non contentious.

I understand the difference. I was making a point...poorly. :)
