I don’t think they said. It’s possible it will but it’s probably not as useful since usually you’re holding your phone. And not sure if the wider angle camera takes up more space, but if it does then that might be another reason it’s not likely. But who knows.
 
Wonder if this is associated to software or hardware? Could it be turned on to the newer iPhones with an update?

No I think it's hardware related. Because the lens pans and rotates as you move .tht would be cool though

No, the lens doesn't move. Basically on devices with center stage, Apple uses an ultra-wide angle lens, and crop the frame on the person as needed, and re-adjust to a wider frame when there's an extra person. It creates the illusion of the lens moving, but no hardware is actually moving. It's all software. The hardware requirement is the ultra-wide angle for the front facing camera.
