I tried using Center Stage for a Zoom call last night. It kept Zooming out backwards and showing my face from a pretty weird angle. At least in terms of how I usually sit for video calls, it was better to turn Center Stage off. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Otherwise the cameras in this machine and the 2018 version seem pretty similar

I don’t think Center Stage is optimized for one person sitting through a Zoom call. If you’re not moving or having others moving in and out of the frame, what’s it going to do?

At least it should have the capability to keep the person fully and correctly in the frame. My 2018 iPad with smart folio is pretty bad sometimes: with the iPad in the case on a table and me sitting by the table, it is aiming too high and half the frame is the wall/ceiling.
I am definitely hoping Center Stage can help with this (I.e. that it can see more of me with the wider angle camera and automatically crop-out the wall/ceiling).

Yeah, that’s a Zoom issue, not an iPad issue. Right now, Center Stage is made for FaceTime. I’m sure Zoom will work to make it useful there too.

It actually does a really good job dealing with the tilt of the iPad in the Magic Keyboard- you can tilt it to comfort level rather than what looks best for the camera!

I just discovered that Filmic Pro supports this for capturing footage with Center Stage! Could be interesting for creating content with this tech.

You just need to enable in the system settings app and then flip the camera with that gear icon (the standard flip button crashes the 2021 iPad Pro - they are now aware of that bug and fixing it).
