Hi Guys
I usually do all my PP, (Adobe CC), on an iMac,
A recent purchase, a refurb 15" MBP i7 16GB to use for an upcoming trip has been heating up,

I suspect the problem is this "CEPHtmlEngineHelper" which appears to be over working the CPU,
MBP has become quite hot at times, and once the fan kicked in in a very short space of time

I have viewed a vid on youtube where it shows how to turn the CEPHtmlEngineHelper off in the Activity monitor, but I'm no geek and don't really know the ramifications if I turn CEPHtmlEngineHelper off and more to the point, I wouldn't know how to turn it back on

What does CEPHtmlEngineHelper do? and do I really need it?
........Gary

Heating up? How much? A MBP should be reasonably warm as the case acts as a heat sink.

Actually, heated up to the extent that the fan kicked in, quite hot to touch
Appears to happen to others with MBP and Adobe 2015 CC

Howdy Gary,

On an Adobe forum there appears to be a fix for this condition.
https://support.muse.adobe.com/thread/1961935?start=0&tstart=0
Hi there
Tks for the link, have actually read that but couldn't follow the directions,
Found another option that suggested that you can delete them in Activity monitor, had a look at that but not sure how to turn on again if I have to?

FWIW, got on to Adobe help line this morning,
Told the guy at the other end the CEP Html Engine was causing a problem with the CPU and overheating the MBP,
His answer,
"This is not Adobe therefore I cannot help you"
I said, "does that mean that you cannot help me?"
All I got was silence, so it was goodbye from me

I also got on to Apple help this morning, wow! What a difference that was, nothing was too much trouble and, had a good grasp of english as well!

Restarting the computer restarts the CEPHtmlEngine, according to that thread linked to above.

Much appreciated,
I must have missed that, thank you,
I'm almost game to have a try,
Will run this past my Nikonians comrades and see if its OK
At least Apple help said that it will not affect any Apple operation

Tks Guys,
I'm back! I think?
My ISP hasn't been providing the last few days, Alexander would know where I'm coming from
Even today its dropping out? They promise it will be all good tomorrow!
I do have a beard, I do live on an island, (albeit, a big one!:))
So, after I stepped out if the castaway character,
I haven't been having any problems
What has changed?
First I re-allocated the memory in PS to 80%, while I was running PS and LR at the same time,
I deleted the CEPHtmlEngine by highlighting it in the Activity Monitor, then clicked the x which stopped it working,
as Alexander stated, when I restarted PS, it was all back again

Overheating has stopped, but I think that allocating 100% of the memory to PS has been the main culprit, 80% appears to be working fine and no overheating so far

Not sure the CEPHtmlEngine is the main culprit but "may" get itself in a loop when PS is allocated 100% memory,
but that is a SWAG, (scientific wild a.s guess!)
Tks for all your help and re-assurance
Much appreciated
......Gary

Good to hear you got it sorted out, Gary!
Tks mate
all good, except my ISP has been, well, "not providing",
the worst down time Ive ever had,
Took me 5mins to get on MacRumors and reply to your post! (and I'm on cable!)
Supposed to be free data today because of the problem

Good news, MBP is not heating up any more!
Appears it may be due to good allocation of memory but not totally sure about the CEP Html engine though
will run some more tests when things settle down
My guess is that when 100% of memory is allocated to PS, the CEP Html Engine gets caught in a "loop" and causes the overload, FWIW, when you close the lid, the MBP didn't switch off,
So you see that there is probability of someone having this same scenario, leaving the computer for a length of time, and then a fire!

Not trying to be too dramatic but would err on the side of caution if someone else had the same scenario

I know this entire thread is old, but this is a quick update due to some information that I have gathered recently due to my own issues with CEP HTML Engine.

First off, some background on CEP HTML Engine. This program is related to Adobe Flash and is used to run HTML5 applications on the internet. Simply, it's well known software used to make internet stuff work. With that being said, why does it occur in all of Adobe's creative applications?

Libraries.

The libraries panel in the Creative Cloud suite connects to your built in cloud data to sync different items. This panel seems to be overworking the CEP HTML program.

Solution:

Just close the "Libraries" panel in whatever software you are working in. This way, you can still dedicate 100% resources to your software without those resources being sidetracked trying to sync internet data. Some people have created a new default workspace without the libraries panel in it that automatically loads every time they open their software just to avoid closing the libraries panel every time they restart the program they are using.

Sorry for hijacking this thread 2+ years late, but I hope it helps!
