Certain Spotlight features not working

So, I've installed Yosemite today, and everything is working great!
Except for searching Wikipedia and Bing using Spotlight... Does anybody have a solution? I have seen some on this very site but all of them suggest force quitting spotlight which isn't working for me and neither is changing to US as the location...
P.S. Also, when i try to do a Time Machine Backup to my External HDD it won't work, it says preparing for backup and then it just stays that way... Any solution?

I encountered this too and realised that Spotlight suggestions is only available for a limited amount of countries for iOS 8, therefore I assume the same applies to Yosemite. Disappointing.

Someone at the Apple support forum found the cause.

If you set your language to english and your region to the US it works. Also if you set your language to dutch and your region to The Netherlands it works.

But any combination of an other language than thats spoken in your selected region will not produce an online result with Bing.

So if you have set your region to ‘Italy’ you only get online results if you set your language to Italian. Btw, if you set the language to Italian you will only get the result form the Italian wikipedia site!

I live in The Netherlands and only get Dutch wikipedia results.

However, Hawk999, spotlight doesn't work even with the steps you mentioned... And I've tried EVERYTHING... Well, I guess I'll just have to deal with it...

was one of the main features i wanted to use in ios 8 or yosemite!

Any way we can make it work?
