I was on the developer portal and I noticed my certificates are going to expire on 2/6/2009, but my provisioining profiles don't expire till August. What happens when my certificates expire? I assume I won't be able to code sign my app for debugging or distribution. I'm a bit confused about what I will need to do to renew my certificates since it's been 6 months since I went through the process. Will I need to reconfigure my devices for development? Do I need to delete the expired certificates? Does apple have documentation that covers renewing expired certificates that is seperate from the initial setup. I just noticed their is a new asssitant on the portal for setting this stuff up.

After reading your post, I checked online to see when my certificates expire. Turns out both my development and distribution certificates expired in early January, but I have been able to continue to develop and update my app as usual since then. I haven't tried to create a new app, so I don't know if that will work.

I think as long as you have valid provisioning profiles, the certificates don't appear to be important.

yeah mine expired too, and i only noticed it (and needed to take measures) when i had to change a device id in one of the distribution profiles. the weird thing is that the entire provisioning profile was invalidated without a clear reason, and i had to figure out myself that it was because the certificate was expired...
