I have a new 5th gen Nano. My stereo/portable/alarm clock all use a firewire dock, so that sucks, I cannot charge my new Nano.

I heard there will be/is an adaptor for inserting into docks. I cannot find them anywhere. I have found a long cable that converts the old firewire charge to USB charge, but is there a more elegant solution? Perhaps one that fits a typical dock to a stereo?

First, I think you mean you got a fourth generation iPod nano because as of this posting a fifth generation iPod nano does not exist. :) The latest generation of iPods can not do anything with a firewire cable. I think you are out of luck when it comes to that. Personally I use an iHome for my stereo/alarm clock needs. I think they also have some more portable ones as well.
