Chances of iPad heating up with extended use?

Probably and obvious question since just about all electronics heat up if you use them too long (hell the iPhone heats up if you talk on it too long)...but with the iPad's 10 hour battery, do you guys think they took special precautions to limit the amount of heat that the iPad will produce when using it?

That is on thing I hate about my laptop now...after 20-30 minutes of use, it gets so damn hot.

I am sure it will as iPhone and iPod touch do with heavy use. But the iPad will have much more surface area to dissipate the heat so I doubt it will be as bad.

I did wonder about this.

The iPhone can get fairly warm. The Touch not so much.

I found with the screen dimmed to 80% and placing the iPhone in airplane mode mitigates most of the heat. YMMV.

I am 'hoping' the larger aluminum, which is an excellent heat transfer material, will help a lot.

I guess we'll have to wait and see...

Keep in mind that although the thermal properties of the aluminum back will help keep the inside of the iPad cooler, it does this by being a good conductor of heat, i.e. it is good at heating up. So the aluminum might tend to feel warmer than people are used to with their plastic iPhones.

I think it will be quite cool actually, my iPhone 3GS only ever gets warm even if I use it for 4 hours (drained) or so playing games or watching video...

The iPad is so much larger it can dissipate the heat much better.

The question was brought up on a video review and the reviewer said...

Heat is absolutely no issue whatsoever...even after 3 hours of continuous use, the iPad was as cool as when it was first turned on.

I was very worried about it getting too hot, especially since you basically have to use it by holding it close to you. It would have really sucked if it got hot after an hour of use when you had it sitting on your lap.

Apple had the sense to design it to not get hot, and I'm very thankful for them because of it!

Warm but not hot!

LED lighting and a rather weak processor will keep it pretty cool.

It can not make alot of heat as the battery lasts near 10 hours. It take electricity to make alot of heat so I would say that it will not get too hot for sure.

My laptop with LED screen and SSD barely get warm on the bottom and the battery last for 9 hours.
