Hello,
I have been searching around trying to find a way to change my boot camp partition's icon. I am currently running os x 10.5 and windows xp on boot camp. I also have vm ware fusion 2.0.1 installed.

I have found this link:
http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/Personalize_your_bootloader

I don't have a USB stick on me at the moment and was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to change the icon using vmware fusion. I could really use your help. Thanks.

I think if I could figure out what is in the file (._driveName) in step 4 of the link about I could figure out how to change the icon.

I think the USB stick is only to copy the icon from OS X to an NTFS volume, since OS X doesn't support write to NTFS natively. If you have NTFS-3g installed, you should be able to mount your XP volume and copy the file over to the root directly.

I already used fusion to copy the .icns file over ...I'm just not sure what the ._driveName file does.
