For some reason on my iPhone 3G won't show me a carrier when I change the boot logo myself in expert, so I have to do it in simple mode. The problem is that I hate the pineapple. Anyway to change it back to the sexy Apple?

You were apparently supposed to do this prior to running pwnage. There's an option to uncheck that will leave the pineapple out and leave the apple logo in.
You may need to start over and make sure you check the box to prevent their graphic from taking place of the Apple.

I tried that, but I can never get any reception when I use expert mode. For some reason my iPhone only responds to simple mode.

hmmm, seems like there would be a way to do this post pwn. im interested in teh same question.

I have the original .png of the Apple logo but I have no idea where it exist in the file structure. I suppose you could ssh into it and just swap them out. I can email the image to you if you want.

Where are the boot and recovery images located on the iphone?
That's what I'm not sure about. I just happen to have the boot image along with others saved in a file I acquired. Like I said earlier I can email the apple boot image to someone if they need it.

/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app

However, the png files are special format of png modded by Apple for the iPhone and you can't just simply drop a normal png. :(

Check out this link: http://www.newsfirex.com/blog/?p=176

actually. any png file works. Thats how I originally modded my springboard w/o customize or winterboard.

HOWEVER, thats only to change the springboard.

There is NO way to change the pineapple logo w/o a restore from a firmware w/ the original bootloader logos.

The image is like the EFI of a mac or bios screen of windows comp. Its not built internally into the file system but instead needs to be flashed in order to work.
A restore of a firmware = reflashing that, which is the ONLY way possible.

why do you need to uncheck activate iphone in expert mode? i don't have att, so i need the phone unlocked and activated, but i would also like to go back to the original apple logo. is the checkbox thing just some sort of glitch?

Hi MacMontana,

Can you send me the apple logo too please?

Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

First, you can't unlock the 3g (well software for sure you can't atm, hardware, I don't really look into it). I am assuming this since the OP's post said iPhone 3G and not the original iPhone. If you have the original iPhone, your post is some what related, but the OP is talking about the iPhone 3G and said nothing about unlock.

For some reason on my iPhone 3G won't show me a carrier... in expert

What I said a couple of days ago was referring to the bold above. He wants the stock logos, but he doesn't get the carrier name or bars using expert.

When you leave "activate phone" check marked, it messes up your connection/status bars and also doesn't show the carrier logo. The way to fix this part is to uncheck "Activate Phone" since you have an iPhone 3g, which requires you to get on a contract with the carrier and is activated by the carrier otherwise you wouldn't be walking out with an iPhone 3g. On simple mode, by default it isn't selected and that is why he gets his carrier logo, but he is stuck with the custom boot logos which he doesn't want (done by default in simple and expert). I had done this on my friend's iPhone 3g and mine. I left his checked and caused this problem, while mine was unchecked and doesn't show this problem.

After unchecking the box "Activate Phone" all the OP has to do is uncheck the boot logos and his problem is solved.

are there any special instructions?

Just make a new ispw with pwnage in expert mode, unchecking the custom images option. Not that hard

i just tried making a new ipsw twice - and got error messages during the saving of the ipsw.
are there any specific for re-pwng?

LogoMe (Cydia) works great

LogoMe allows you to change the boot-logo as often as you want.
I have a folder of .png files on my iPhone (synced with iPhoto) so I
can easily choose them without having to go online to download them.

Anyone knows for sure if Logome still works with 3.1.2
I know the old version didnt, not sure if the app has been updated?

Logo me hasn't worked since 2.2.1

No other option since 3.0 came out.
