I have several email addresses. One of them is giving me trouble as it was spread around to garbage websites. I would like to delete it forever, but don't want to cut the cord just yet.

When I'm writing any note for email, it comes up as the default return address (garbage@gmail.com) where "garbage" is not the correct name, but I don't want to spread the correct name of this account here. I would like to use either another gmail or outlook address as my default outbound return address.

the above suggestion is great for new emails but may not catch your (outgoing) replies to emails from the unwanted email server?

It might make sense to also change the default outgoing server to make sure replies come from the server you choose?

I do this with all my gmail accounts ( I recieve emails but never "send" from the gmail server)

Thanks! Before, new messages were "automatically sent from best account" which as far as I could tell an outlook account.

Are you suggesting I should choose SMTP and my iCould account? Wouldn't that automatically make all my incoming emails to my icloud mail account?
