I sold my macbook pro kaby 2.9 / 16/512 for € 2,000, knowing that the imac is the same year of the macbook, but not knowing when a new model will come out, I decided to advanced to a € 2700 promotion for an IMAC 4.2 / 8 / 512 (later I place another 8G). It was a difficult decision but as I rarely take the macbook out of the house, I took advantage of the good sale I made for it and the discount I had, and I can still cut the IVA that stay only € 2,2000.

I know that many of you now say, "You said that you waited a little longer to see what might come" ... but here we never know when a new model comes out, and this current one I still consider to be a powerful machine.

I know it's a thought that many of you sometimes have..but I took the risk and in my understanding and needs (5K screen) I decided to move on and share with you my decision. ;)

regards

I ordered a 4K iMac yesterday for precisely this reason. I don’t want to wait any longer and I don’t think we will see a redesign this year, just a spec bump. I’ll happily sell my 4K iMac if they release a redesign next year.

Im the opposite - Im waiting. I have a 2013 MacBook Pro 15" for home use and a 2013 MacBook Air 11" as my portable machine that I take everywhere. This year I was looking to purchase an iMAC for home and a MacBook as my portable machine anyway.

Hence Ive sold both my current systems to a friend, and have ordered a 2018 MacBook Pro 13 for the moment. This will be my new portable machine, and I can get by with using it for everything at the moment, including some basic editing. Once the new iMAC is released I will purchase a max spec for my main editing work. Im hoping it will be at some point in the next month or two though!
I'm not fussed with a redesign - I would be more then happy with a spec bump (and also hope they keep the removable RAM door!!)
