my menubar clock always shows weekday/month/date (ie "Sun Apr 17"). anyone know of a way to change it to "Sun 17 Apr"? am used to using that format everywhere else, but can't seem to change it in the menubar (i've tried in system preferences>menubar & dock, and sys prefs>date & time)...

a terminal trick? a magic one? 🤷‍♂️ or...?

You can change and customize the region, for example Romania displays 17 April

Aalborg, Denmark
dd.MM.y, HH:mm

this? in the Language preferences and then choose Advanced - then Medium or Short. Medium is where I put it

You can't remove the clock anymore.. you can make it analogue instead

Hadn't noticed it before but apparently you can't turn off the default clock because it's now used to toggle the notifications/widgets. The best you could do would be to hide the day of week and day of the default clock, leaving the time, and then in itsycal have it show just the day of week, day and month with the pattern E d MMM and check the Hide Icon checkbox. You could then command+click on the itsycal date in the menu bar and move it to the right, but it doesn't appear that you can move it next to the time, the control center won't move out of the way.

i tried that (i'd also tried simply moving the date in front of the month) and does not change anything (in the menubar). i did restart the finder...

EDIT: the 'romania' idea seems to work, and am showing EST (as expected); will try that for a while, but may do the trick! thanks, bogdanw for that.. (& thanks everyone for ideas)

EDIT EDIT! this made me nervous, but all seems well...

end of the story: had to go back to US defaults; after rebooting (with 'romania' set for the date/time), my messages were messed up (in mac messages app); no names/images, just the phone #s... with the US country code.

so it goes!

Romania was just an example, you can set the region to United Kingdom and customize the rest to US values.
And you don’t have to change the display language, you can keep English (US) on top even if you change the region to another country.

i didn't change anything but the region, then got that message about rebooting, and lost names/images in messages when i rebooted. everything was correct after (again) rebooting with the default US region. anyway, am ok with the default setting.
