Change Notes app icon?

I've the .png file I want to use, followed instructions I've read online, to go to info for the app and then either copy the wanted image and then paste with the icon at the top left of Info, or drag and drop. Trouble is neither method works.

Is there some other lock in MacOS 14 that now prevents chainging the icons? What I read online was not really directed at os 14.

Have you tried using the .icns format? I've done it on previous macOS versions and it worked.

is that just renaming from.png to .icns? I'll give that a try... nope, didn't work

Notes is a system application (lives on the read-only/sealed OS volume) and cannot be changed. It has been that way for a while now and isn't specific to macOS 14. If you really want to change it, you would have to disable SIP (which I don't recommend).
