DVD-RW is displayed as 'SuperDrive' on OSX.
CD-RW+DVD was displayed as 'ComboDrive' on OSX.

But, 'Blu-Ray RE' is displayed real device name..

How can i change this like 'UltraDrive' or 'GreatDrive'....'SuperiorDrive?

Thanks for reading!

You normally can't but you might be able to do so by editing a file inside an Extension located in the Extensions Folder, you need root access to do so and you can mess up.

For instance, I found this .plist file in:
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleStorageDrivers.kext/Contents/PlugIns/PioneerSuperDrive.kext/Contents/Info.plist

But it says PioneerSuperDrive in the .plist file.

I have never really thought about this before but this is something I would really be interested in. As it stands my drives are labeled:

HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH10LS30
HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH10LS20

Interesting!

I found something in the next folder down:
/System/Library/Frameworks/DiscRecordingUI.framework/Version/A/Resources/English.lproj/DevicePicker.strings

In that file:

/* No Device Message */
"NoDevice" = "No Devices Available";

/* Locations */
"top" = "Upper";
"bottom" = "Lower";
"left" = "Left";
"right" = "Right";

/* Drive Types */
"CD-ROM" = "CD-ROM Drive";
"CD-R/RW" = "CD-R/RW Drive";
"DVD-ROM" = "DVD-ROM Drive";
"DVD-RAM" = "DVD-RAM Drive";
"COMBODRIVE" = "Combo Drive";
"SUPERDRIVE" = "SuperDrive";

/* Format string for multiple internal device menu title. English would read like 'Upper SuperDrive' (location drive name) */
"%@ %@" = "%1$@ %2$@";
