My Apple ID is currently my gmail address. I also have an iCloud email address attached to my account.

I’ve been moving away from some Google services so I thought maybe I’d either change my Apple ID to be my iCloud email address (though I understand that locks me into always using an iCloud email as my Apple ID moving forward) or change it to a hosted email address using a domain I own.

Are there any unintended consequences to changing an Apple ID? Would it be wise to just use the iCloud email as the ID? I have a large movie library on iTunes I wouldn’t want to ever lose. Would it be best to just not change anything?

You shouldn't lose any purchases by using the attached iCloud email as your main Apple ID.

Thanks. Yeah I figured that making that change wouldn’t result in losing purchases. Just wanted to state that since making a completely new Apple ID isn’t an option for me.

I’ve just seen it mentioned before of issues related to changing an Apple ID email and am curious what issues it could possibly cause. I have a lot of Apple devices so I’m sure I might have to login again to some of them. Just wondering if there is something I’m not aware of that would make it better to just keep things setup the way they are.
