iOS Changing date for new app updates

I couldn't find the thread I read this in, but someone wrote that they change the date of submission each time they update their app when it's approved. This, they said, puts the update in the new apps listing on AppStore.

I've looked all over iTunesConnect and can't see where you can do this. not even when I posted the last update.

Does a new update appear in the new listing by default, or is this wishful thinking?

(It was probably me who said that, cuz that's what I do.) When you get the email that says your update has been approved, then login to iTunes Connect. Go to Manage Your Applications. Click Edit Information for that app. Go to the Pricing tab. On that page, change the Availability Date to "today". It may take a few hours for the search db of the App Store to sync, but eventually you should see your app in listings when sorted by Release Date.

Unless you are referring to the "New and Noteworthy" listing which you have no say in as it's controlled by Apple.

Or, if you're really anal about it, set the availability date to the current date, each morning while you are waiting an approval (for new apps or updates). (You can set an alarm or To Do entry!) I did that and an update to 100birds was approved Saturday morning, so I was able to maximize its exposure on the New Releases screen, for what it's worth.

Just don't set a date in advance of the current date (California time) for an update of an existing app, or you will effectively take the old (current) version off the market.

One thing I noticed yesterday is that I thought about uploading the new design screenshots for the update, but actually noticed that each entry of the app in iTunesConnect is not different. I would have thought that each entry manages its own screenshots, but it doesn't.

Correct. There is actually very few pieces of info from iTunes Connect that are separate across versions, incl. the version number, of course, and the "What's New In This Version" text.

I have submitted feedback to Apple asking them to provide more version-specific app information, including screenshots and application description, in order to allow us developers to 'stage' our updates and prevent scrambling upon approval or stale information from being carried over. So far, they do not seem to be in a rush to address this need. If you or any other developers reading this would also like this change, please submit your feedback to Apple as well. Thanks.
