changing format of windows partition

I have an external HD that is partitioned for mac and windows. When I click info on the window partition it says it's format is MAC OS extended. And when I'm in bootcamp it won't read the external HD. I assume I need to change the format to FAT32 which is the format of the window partition. How do I do that?

Yes but a clarification. FAT32 only supports single files up to 4 GB. You can format a volume up to 8 TiB to FAT32.

Yes it'll be fine.

That is correct. On the far left is the entire drive itself. Under it can be many partitions using different file systems. The entire drive (far left) can be formatted or just one partition. (more to the right and under it)

Any volume over 32 GB will be formatted to NTFS in Windows.
