i recently had to have my hard-drive formatted.
i want to download all the music on my ipod back to my hard drive (using senuti) but i am worried about plugging my ipod in because it was previously set to update automatically.
is there any way to set ipod to update manually without plugging it in?
is there any way to stop itunes opening automatically when i plug my ipod in?
please help
thanks. chris.

iTunes will ask you "Are you sure you'd like to replace the music from your iPod with the music from this library" or something like that, before doing anything, so all you have to do is say no and it will let you go about copying your music from your iPod back to your computer.

If you're worried, just be prepared to quickly remove your iPod from the dock/unplug it if iTunes tries to pull any funny business.
