hello.

over the weekend i had an accident with my macbook and ended up shattering the LCD screen. black cracks and blobs all over it. ick! does anyone know if its possible to buy and replace the screen??

its not covered by any warranties by apple, so i'm sure that if i take it to them, they'll charge me obscene amounts to fix it. haha.

so i guess if anyone can just point me in the right direction, i'd really appreciate it.

thanks in advance

Yeah you can fix it, http://www.ifixit.com has displays, and guides on how to replace them. Like you said if you get apple to replace it, it'll run you somewhere in the neighborhood of $600.

iFixIt is pretty expensive on the screens as well. Go to eBay first and see if they have any for sale.

I haven't actually opened up a MacBook, but I've swapped screens on the MBP. It'll be a bit tougher finding a replacement screen because 13.3" screens still aren't that popular.

okay thanks.

i looked at ifixit.com, and they didn't have any sort of screens for the mac books. do they change their inventory often?

i also looked on ebay yesterday and came up with nothing. grr!

i still haven't brought it in to apple to see what they say, i'm just scare that they'll charge me an arm and a leg for something i might be able to do for much less on my own!

if anyone else has any input, i'll gladly take it. places to find screens, etc. thanks to the two who already did. i'm just still on the hunt.
