changing meta data

I'm using aperture and iPhoto. I have a little problem, I imported photos from a trip I took, and I used someone else's camera. So when I imported the images the year was off on the camera so the images are all organized in the wrong place. I have tried changing the date in iPhoto and Aperture but they seem to not want to do that. Is there a way to change the date?
