Changing my default CD-RW drive

Hi, my internal cd-rom drive died on my iMac G4, and I bought a Lacie d2 DVD-RW/CD-RW drive. However, I cannot burn CD's with it, from system profiler, it says not supported. Any idea how I can change from the internal drive to burn on this firewire drive?

internal or external drive? i assume it's an external one. you probably need to use the supplied software (toast titanium) to burn cd or dvd's with that drive. there are only a few drives supported natively by os x.

install all the necessary patches and everything (including idvd if you use iLife '04) and it should work natively in all apps
