Doesn't even bat an eye when toggling on my MBA vs. a few seconds on any intel I've ever had

I think it changes it before my brain processes the change occurred...

Fun for the whole family!

In all seriousness, do the windows rearrange instantly when connecting to an external display? The 10 seconds of chaos when connecting my Intel MBP to external display drives me insane.

haven’t tried with external

my external sucks anyways and takes a while to detect anything so I’m not wagering it’ll solve a doomed problem in my case

Might be worth giving it a shot anyway. Macs (at least the Intel variants) have always sucked at detecting and connecting to external displays.

It's the same thing with external. It's instant, and the windows do not lag while rearranging. The rearrangement is instant.
The only delay (at least on my UltraFine 4K) is due to the display having to turn on first when it's plugged. But that's it. As soon as it's on everything is ready.

K that alone makes the Intel to M1 upgrade worth it. I dread docking my MacBook cuz of its slow rearrangement.

oh I misinterpreted your post

I thought you meant detecting a video signal from my monitor. That is always slow because of
The monitor’s inability to quickly detect input

I would have suspected resolution changes are instant to. But I keep my monitor at 1920x1200 always haha

it’s my laptop screen I go back and forth with resilutions

I will one day unpack my external I moved recently so it’s still in wrap

but yeah the m1 is a beast. It really must be seen and experienced

I must say that I tried a couple of different resolutions when I first got mine and the first couple of changes were instantaneous. I was still waiting for the change to take effect and it already had!
