iPod changing songs to mp3

whenver i try a burn a mp3 disc with songs from itunes i get an error and it lists the songs that can't be burned because they are not in mp3 format. can i remove then add my library somehow so all my songs are mp3 format?

Keep in mind, by converting an AAC file to an mp3, you'll lose a lot of quality due to recompressing an already compressed lossy file.
 
You should be able to burn AACs to disk without conversion.

Edit: oh, doh - I should have read more carefully. If you want to burn an MP3 disk, then you're going to have to convert them.
 
Well i tried dumping the files in Toast and no errors came up however the particular songs were not on the MP3 disc made by toast.

So is there anyway to tell iTunes to look at my library and concert any songs not MP3 to MP3, or if I want to make a MP3 disc from time to time, what should I do?

What do you guys do if you need to make a MP3 disc?

He's trying to burn an MP3 disc for use in MP3 CD players.

Converting AAC files to MP3 will result in a significant loss in quality, so keep the original files around. You could use something like XLD to convert the files. Set up your MP3 format in the preferences and just drag the files you want to convert to the XLD icon. (yes, I know the LD stands for Lossless Decoder, but it'll encode MP3s.)
 
yeah, i guess. but all of my songs are AAC, and I can burn mp3 cd's from itunes with no problem, so i don't know why he's having that problem
 
I don't think the problem is the files not being mp3s. I think the problem is the files are protected AACs. I have done this a total of one or two times, but iTunes won't let you burn protected AAC files to an MP3 disc. I'm fairly sure the iTunes Plus files should burn fine to an MP3 CD.
 
that makes sense. I thought with DRM music itunes gives you 5 burns. maybe he's used them up, or maybe they don't let you burn as mp3's at all. mystery solved, i think.

I think don't think that's how iTunes works. Other services I used had similar limits, but I think iTunes allows unlimited uncompressed CDs and NO burns to MP3 CDs (because that's what iPods are for).

no, itunes places limitations on what you are able to do with DRM music purchased from the itunes store.
