Yep. Kind of sucks. I am still amazed that Apple hasn't added a way of doing this legitimately. For as stylish Apple is in everything they do, they did a crappy job on the default theme.

I really want to know how many Apple employees that have iPhones have jailbroken their's.

Didn't I read somewhere in the past few days that this is slated for the next software upgrade?

Maybe from another site.....

From your own signature..

"If you will not (jailbreak), than you cannot..(change background)."

Exactly... they are stylish, that's why they won't let you put some ugly background on a sleek phone :D

Now I'm not saying that YOU would put an ugly background, but just like themes, I think people would get carried away and make the phone look ridiculous. Some of the themes/backgrounds I've seen for the iPhone are outright ugly and should've never seen the light of day, but unfortunately they did.

Until Apple sets up something in the App Store, you'll need to JB, since there are tons of wallpaper/screenlocks for JB iPhones...

There is another reneview stream. charge .99 - $1.99 per theme. Apple makes .33-.68ish per download. They are so stupid if they don't do it. That way they could also keep control. If they don;t like it they just deny it. That takes care of te stylish this.

And just so you know, I am a graphic designer so trust me, my background/theme is very stylish. Home made and no on else in the world has it.

I think this is as close as you'll get. Can anyone +1 this? I've never tried it.

Stay away from RipDev. Go with The iPhone Dev Team. Go with http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

They use Cydia which is 100x better then Installer. Installer was great when the iPhone was first Jailbroken but after the 2.0 FW update, Cydia became the status quo. There are a lot more repositories for Cydia and therefore a lot more you can do with your jailbroken iPhone.
