Finder in OSX allows three icon views - large icons, list and some kind of fancy list that shows levels. Is there any way to set the second of these, the normal list, as the default for all icons in the Finder, rather than large icons, which can look untidy?

Thanks in advance folks.

I know that on the Desktop, if you go to Show View Options, and select the smallest size, it becomes like list view on the Desktop. As for everything else, I do not know of anyway to get everything in list view without manually changing every folder.

You can set a global folder view, and then from within any folder options, just set it to the global options, and then you can change the view on all your folders just by changing the "global" folder settings.
