Charging 15" through the Apple adapter

Apple says that their Digital AV Multiport Adapter can pass through only 60W power, while the MBP 15" charger/cable output 87W. For this reason they recommend charging the 15" directly, not through the adapter.

Still, it's a convenience to have this adapter attached to the charging cable, so I was wondering is there any downside to using the MBP while attached to power in this way (with only 60W) other than slower charging?

No downside, it'll just charge slower and be more susceptible to draining the battery at high sustained loads while plugged in.
