I have an 80gig iPod classic that will only charge when connected to a computer. I've tried every wall charger I can find, even my iPad charger but no joy. Is this normal? It wouldn't be a problem except that my wife's using it and pretty much never remembers to eject it before disconnecting it from her MacBook. Thanks.

I don't think that's normal, except maybe some third-party chargers might not work. I have an 80 GB iPod Classic and it does charge from a third-party charger I bought a long time ago (sorry I don't remember the brand).

Is your iPad charger an authentic Apple device? And it didn't work? Sorry, I can't imagine why. :(

Yes it is, I've also tried everything I have including an LG charger that does work for everything else, even my wifes iphone. I've also tried all the cables I have.

I have had a similar issue with my 30GB classic. It went through a period where it would not charge on my car radio after being connected for several years, but it would charge on the computer. And then out of the blue it started charging again.
