I am thinking of buying an iPhone 11 Pro Max...

1.) How would I charge that in my car? (I have an ancient Honda.)

2.) I saw something online that says charging iPhones using a USB cigarete lighter will damage them?

3.) At home, I have two rMBPs, but they don't have a USB-C port, so what would I do?

You would change it like any other iPhone with a Lightning port (since iPhone 5 basically).

In addition, like iPhones models since iPhone 8, it can also support wireless charging.

So I have a lightning cable and if I buy a new Phone 11 Pro Max it'll come with a cable, BUT it sounds like you have to use USB-C on the other end to charge?

That is why I am asking...

I have a little charger that plugs into my car's cigarette light, but it only has two traditional USB-A ports.

1.) So will my existing USB-A to Lighting cable charge an iPhone 11 Pro Max, or must I use the USB-C to Lightning cable hat comes with the phone?

2.) And same question for charging from my rMBP.

3.) Lastly, is it true charging your Phone from your car's cigarette lighter will damage the iPhone and its battery?

Existing USB-A to Lightning cables will work just fine whether you do it from a power adapter or your computer.

For the most part power converters that you can use in the car won't do any harm. Basically they aren't that much different than third party power adapters you would get to plug into a wall outlet. There are some really cheap ones that might be not be made all that well and can result in some voltage/current irregularities which the phone can still generally deal with, but at times they can cause some issues. That is something that realistically applies to any third party type of accessories that can be used for charging -- usually those that are from reputable brands and/or actually MFi certified will be just fine.

That's good to know. I was afraid that I'd have to buy some large, expensive converter for my car, and possibly not be able to charge an iPhone 11 Pro Max from my older MacBooks.

Thanks.
