Charging/connection issue with 1st gen touch

Hi all. I have a 1st gen 8gb touch. All has been fine with it until today!! Switched it on and first noticed that the wi-fi symbol was missing, even though i could connect to internet, email, itunes etc.. Odd, but i thought that if i syncd' it the problem may resolve itself (new updates whatever...!) but it wouldnt charge or sync... Plugged it into one of my idocks (which i know works) but no go here either.....sooo....anyone got any ideas..???!!! Your help is much appreciated!

turn it off (hold the sleep button till a red slider) the wait about 60sec the turn back on, may work

i had this same problem with my old first gen but i had my wifi symbol and everything. i took it to apple saying it wouldnt sync or charge and they replace it no questions asked. mine was still under warranty at the time though. i dunno if yours still is
