Hello people on MacRumors I have a question that I can't seem to find answers anywhere. I recently got a 2016 MacBook Pro and purchased the Apple USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter. When I use that adapter to connect my iPhone to my MacBook Pro, it shows it charges with 2.1A. That made me wonder if I can use the adapter and the lightning to USB-A cable and charge with the MacBook Pro charger. Will that cause any damage? Or has anyone tried that yet? Thanks.

I've used my MacBook Pro charger with my usb c to lighting cable a number of times without issues. when it detects an iOS device it limits the power to 5v 2.4 amps or as much as the 12 watt usb charger.
