Hello. Has anyone else has charging issues recently in your iPhone or iPad? I have the iPhone XS Max and 9.7 iPad and over the past week or so when I plug in my lightening cable, a lot of times it won't start charging. And if I wiggle it may start, but will stop. I've used different cords with similar results.

Perhaps the charging ports on the devices might have something in them (like lint/dust) that is affecting things?

First of all, check the lightning port if there are lint or dust accumulated inside. You can do this by using a toothpick and just pick inside making sure its free of any obstruction. Do not blow into it to avoid saliva induced damage.

Next thing you do is to use a completely different and known working charger. Not just the cable but a completely different charger (plug and cable). If that still does not charge your device, have your phone checked by an Apple tech or a local tech as this probably means that the charging port of your device is faulty.

Have you tried other sources of power as well? I have had to use a toothpick to clean lint and dirt out of the lightening port before. It's unlikely two devices would have the same issue simultaneously though.

I started having issues after the latest update. After the update I would see the "not charging" message while the power plugged into my iPad mini. I tried 2 other cables, and the wall charger from my other iPad (which does charge fine) and still no luck. I borrowed my son's fast charger power brick and it worked fine. Not sure why, but here is the adapter I am using that is working for me.

Tons of charging issues on my XS MAX. replaced the phone, same thing, replaced the cords too. IDK. Apple has no response for it.

My friend is having charging issues with her XS MAX as well. Apple genius said the problem was her cords. After she spent a small fortune buying new chords from Apple she still having the problem.
