So I realized why I used to wake up and my iPhone would have 2+ hrs of standby already, and this may be the same problem some others were having.

I completely forgot that I have my macbook set up to automatically shut down/sleep at 3am and wake up at 7am. Since the iPhone will not charge while the computer is sleeping it just sits there in standby mode when it goes to sleep at 3am. Since it wakes up just before I wake up I just forgot that I enabled this feature awhile back.

On this note....I do not like to just let my computer run all night but I want to charge my phone via usb instead of the wall plug because its better right? Im pretty sure that there is not, but is there a way to have it charge and have the computer sleep at the same time?

Where did you hear that it was better to charge it through the computer? That may be correct, but I have not heard that.

I have heard, however, that it isn't good to charge any phones with car adapters. I still do though because it is impractical to carry around a power converter in the car.

But I have the same problem you're having. I've just been leaving my laptop on all night, which as you said, is undesirable.

why is it better to charge through USB?

Im not sure where I heard it so it might be wrong, but I thought the USB was higher powered thus better for the iPhone...however I know nothing about electrical so dont chop my head off if im wrong lol.

The main beef I have with charging it though an outlet is that I keep the dock on my desk and the USB cable is waaaaaay too short to reach from the power outlet adapter to the dock which is on my desk or pretty much to any bedside table when plugged into the wall.
